What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. It is not a sleep state, in fact in hypnosis you are more alert than you are in your normal waking state. Hypnosis is a state of pure mind and body relaxation where the Conscious mind rests and allows the Subconscious mind come to the fore and take control. Things like Daydreaming, Dozing, Concentrating & Meditation are all forms of that altered state.
Does it Really Work?
Of course it works! In Hypnosis, nobody can make you do anything you dont want to do. That goes for Smoking, Losing Weight or any Psychosomatic disorder. Some people say: I went to a hypnotist and it didnt work for me! Well there are three factors to consider here, Did they see a Professionally Registered Therapist? Did they finish the course? Did they really want to change? (you cant be made do anything you dont want to do)
What does it feel like?
It feels a pleasant state of relaxation where your limbs feel heavy and disinclined to move. The conscious mind drifts in easy relaxation while the Subconscious mind comes to the fore for your protection just as it does in normal sleep however in Hypnosis you remain perfectly aware of everything whereas when sleeping, outside events have to awaken you for you to become aware of them. Just like a mother or father is woken when their baby calls yet ignores louder, less important sounds.
How does it work?
All changes to do with emotions, feelings, habits, associations and triggers need to be made at the Subconscious level. In hypnosis the conscious mind also known as the “Critical Factor” is relaxed and so it doesn't interfer with the positive suggestions that he therapist gives. The Hypnotherapist can then communicate directly with the subconscious mind to find and remove the root cause of the problem and give positive suggestions to the subconscious in order to help the individual achieve their goal.
